Achari Paneer is a wonderful vegetarian dish prepared in less than 30 minutes. Cubes of fresh cheese marinated in spices and yogurt and gently cooked in the Air Fryer. It is a great main dish or appetizer to make and will definitely have your friends and family asking for the recipe.
Store-bought paneer can often be disappointing because it is hard and dense. The yogurt really helps soften the paneer and allows the delicious achari spices to coat the paneer cubes ensuring a flavor bomb with each bite.

What is Achar?
Achar also known as pickle is an Indian condiment. It is a method of preserving fruits and vegetables, similar to pickling, but based in mustard oil and roasted spices. Achar or pickle can be homemade or store-bought. Achar is used similarly to a hot sauce. It gives a burst of spice, flavor and acid to a meal.
What is Paneer?
Paneer is a fresh and non-melting cheese popular in South Asia. Made by curdling milk with a little acid, either vinegar or lemon juice. Once the cheese curdles are separated from the whey and pressed into a block. The block of cheese is then cut into cubes. Paneer has a mild and milky flavor that pairs well with bold spices common in South Asian cuisine. Paneer can be homemade or bought from an ethnic grocery store, Fairway or Whole Foods. It is also a great source of protein for vegetarians.
How to make Achari Paneer?
Achari paneer is one of the easiest things to make. Simply, cube store-bought or homemade paneer. In a medium bowl, add together yogurt, ginger, garlic, turmeric, paprika, onion seeds, mustard powder, garam masala, lemon juice, and achar. Mix and let the marinade sit for at least 2 hours. For best results, let the marinade sit overnight. Finally, place the paneer in the air fryer basket, in batches if needed. And cook for 10 minutes.
Do I need an Air Fryer?
The Air Fryer is the perfect vestibule to cook Paneer. It provides a slight char and smoky flavor which greatly accompanied the spices in the marinade. Achari Paneer can also be cooked on the grill or in a sauté pan.
